Koperasi Produsen Bandongan Organik Mitayani dibentuk berawal dari sebuah Asosiasi Petani Organik yaitu Asosiasi Petani Organik Bandongan Mitayani, Asosiasi ini telah dibentuk sejak Tahun 2013, awal mulanya hanya sebagai wadah berkumpul petani untuk saling berbagi tentang budidaya tanaman secara organik, baik teknis budaya, potensi pasar, maupun diseminasi teknologi ke petani lainnya di wilayah Bandongan. Tahun 2017 Asosiasi Petani Organik Bandongan Mitayani memulai memasarkan beras organik. Dalam proses perkembangan pada Tahun 2022 Asosiasi membentuk Badan Usaha milik petani yang berbentuk Koperasi pada tanggal 23 Mei 2022, Koperasi dibentuk di Balai Penyuluhan Pertanian (BPP) Kecamatan Bandongan kabupaten Magelang.
